Documentary photography serves as both a research vehicle, source of inspiration and often resolves as finished pieces in their own right.

A series of views from the Sicilian roadside - I’m fascinated with the interplay between human intervention and the landscape, often with the removal of vegetation and plant-life which then returns and begins to subsume, bringing entropy once again to our attempts at order.

Through photography I derive both  colour and textural palettes. There’s a strong link between this and particularly my paintings, a continual cycle of conversation and development.

The pursuit of the ostensibly mundane is another tenet of my work,  there’s almost a game I’m playing with myself trying to approach this threshold of the tedious where it almost becomes  exquisite - exotic mundanity. Finding art in the artless.
